Manifesting a Better Life by Detouring the Mind

A couple years ago I began watching documentaries and many different webinars mostly out of curiosity. Out of the thousands of “how to’s” on eating healthy, living a stress free life and more, I’ve found a strong message that many have in common. Interestingly enough, that would include a recent visit with a physician so it’s not just the woo-woo clubs of the internet.

Reduce stress.

Defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.

I’m focusing on the above to make my point for the remainder of this blog.

What if everything we think about were merely constructs of our own making? What if our thoughts were things capable of having lives of their own? And what if we realized we had a choice in how we perceive situations that we could change the outcome?

There’s a lot of chatter about quantum fields and how the universe interacts with each of our individual thought-creations and personal energies. Is it possible to change limiting beliefs and the patterns that show up in our lives?

The answer is a resounding yes.

In order for grace to show up, shutting off all the horrible self-talk is the first step. Since the beautiful mind is a great manifesting machine of all that is good or not, let’s stop getting in our own way!

Begin with something small. Write down a belief you’ve had in the recent 24 hours then ask “Is this true?” “Is it possible to NOT be true?”  Let’s pretend for a while it’s not because in the long run everything will be okay.

I had a situation the other day where I was sad and depressed because I thought I wouldn’t hear from somebody close to me. It was a special day. I laid down, relaxed my mind and let go of this belief. I let go of the attachments and expectations. Later in the afternoon I got the phone call.

By now you’re probably asking yourself what the heck does any of this have to do with magic? Well… everything! If you find yourself constantly fussing and fuming and worrying about an outcome of something, anything, you’re getting in your own way. If you have a belief you will never have what you need for X, it’s not always about the need, it’s oftentimes about the limiting beliefs and the stressors associated with it.

Of course life will come at you from time to time and you’ll have those days. Instead of thinking I shouldn’t feel this or think that, stop should-ing on yourself and go ahead, feel it or think it so you can let it go.

Being perfectly positive 24-7 seems a bit woo-woo to me however having the ability to knock out that gap between what’s needed and where you stand now begins with noticing. Notice if you are reacting or responding. Ask some ‘what if’ questions.

Anointing the Body

Clients have asked me if there are additional methods of working with oils along with performing candle spells. There are several however to keep this writing simple, I’ll offer one that was given to me a few years ago by my friend Dean.

Before I started suggesting this to clients, I tried it first. This is something I’ll do with most new things to make sure it works. I also changed it by the suggestion of my Spirits.

Recite the following as you do the anointments:

“I call on my Higher Power, Spirits of my family, Loa and all the Spirits who walk with me to bless me with (insert the purpose of the oil(s) you are using. Example: good luck, abundance, success).”

You will continue to recite the above as you apply the oils in the following manner:

Beginning at the top of your head, draw a small equal armed cross + and continue to the forehead, back of neck, heart, elbows, hands, each hip, each knee and bottoms of both feet.

Blended oils have carrier oil in them however you may want to check by dabbing a small amount on the inside of your wrist to be sure it doesn’t irritate your skin before trying the above.

Where My Site is and How to Anoint Candles

I know I haven't written anything in ages. Recently I had to move my website to another domain and that took several months to get straightened out. Over the past month I had noticed a glitch on the home page and had to talk to the host about it and it's fixed. If you went to my site and were unable to access it for any reason, it's up and operating normally now!

Many people ask how to anoint a candle, which used to be on my old website template. These instructions are basic and simple.

How to Anoint Candles:

In most cases, you’ll have oil that is for “gain.” That means you are trying to draw something to you. Here are the following types of candles and how to anoint them.

Tea-light: Start at the outside rim and circle clockwise toward the wick.

7 Day Jar: Start at the outside rim and circle clockwise toward the wick.

Tapers: Begin at the top where the wick is, draw down toward you, stop at the center. Then from the bottom, go up to the center.

Using Command or Bend Over Oil:

Use a purple taper or thicker type of candle, begin at the top where the wick is. Grasp the candle with your hand and twist “in” then “out” as you glide your hand down the candle. Go all the way down to the bottom.

Hexing, Justice, etc.

Using your middle finger (get it?), start at the wick and circle counter-clockwise to the outer rim of the jar.

With tapers, you would apply the oil moving away from your body instead of toward you. I recommend using a rubber glove when handling these types of oils.

To Charge or Not: Why Occult Services are NOT Free

Last night I was in the midst of a heated debate over whether or not it was proper to charge customers for spiritual services. Some believe since we’re given this “gift from the Gods,” it should never be used to charge money for.

Some believe we would be seen as charlatans stealing people’s money from the side of the road, swindling the customer out of hundreds of dollars, convincing them they have a "curse" that has to be lifted, and only can be lifted by them! This is a justifiable concern as there are many would-be rip offs out there operating as practitioners. However, let’s not throw out the baby with the bathwater because not everyone who charges for their services are trying to rip people off.

One young pagan claimed her “spirits” told her she couldn’t charge for services and her mother agreed with this sentiment.

As magicians we want to go out and save the world. We feel we do our part by helping people put their lives together until… that certain someone comes along and bulldozes everything over, despite our best intentions. There are also those clients who go from practitioner to practitioner with a sob story begging for free services even though several reputable practitioners have either worked on their no-win situation or told the person no.

When you don’t place a value on your OWN work, others won’t either. Every once in a while you’ll come across the regular John Doe who doesn’t know anything about magic who is in a rough spot in his life but is still stubborn enough that he refuses to do what you tell him he needs to.

When you do free spells for a guy like this, he will have a mindset that devalues your work and will continue to badger you to help him out. How can you help out someone who doesn’t believe? Why should you in the first place? If he believes, he should part with some green. It is the greatest equalizer we have in society today. Money talks, bullshit walks. Get it?

You try your very best to help John Doe. You make potions for baths, perfumes, oils, incense, powders, sprays in an effort to help him increase his luck, money & success. Nada. He doesn’t believe. You’re out the cost of the ingredients as well as the time putting all this together. What’s your free time worth to you? Mine is expensive!

The other, darker side of the coin is when you invite a client into your home to do work on him at your altar. He’s waiting in front of your altar and you get a phone call. While you’re off answering the call, Mr. Doe is busy drinking liquor out of the bottles on your Spirit’s shrines, pocketing cash from your shrines and altars and helping himself to whatever else he can.

You want to put up with all of that headache for no money?

There is an interesting proviso that happens when a person reneges on their agreement to pay and/or steals from the Spirits. All the work I’ve done unravels and the person will be much worse off than they were.

In case you’re wondering, yes, I had a client treat me like this after I did all I could to help him out while he was down and out on his luck. No charge to him but he ripped me off good. Now, his life has turned to shit and he’s facing serious jail time over potent criminal charges.

I feel if we devalue our services to the world by giving them away, then people will begin to act like this guy did and attempt to screw over every practitioner they come across. Not sure about you but I am tired of being taken advantage of. It’s a no win situation and my Spirits do not appreciate the hassle either. Frankly, if you wish to work for free, I can send you all the clients who are only interested in free work that you can handle.

Me? I’ll still continue to charge, collect and feed my Spirits properly. Thanks for reading.
